Hawks Fall on the Road, 82-49, to Division II West Alabama

LIVINGSTON, AL - Junior Jacob Moody was the only Huntingdon College player in double-figures, as the Hawks fell to Division II West Alabama, 82-49, Monday evening at Pruitt Hall.

33 Region Champs advance to AHSAA Football Playoff Quarterfinals

MONTGOMERY--Seven of eight region champions in Class 2A and Class 4A advanced to the quarterfinal round of the Alabama High School Athletic Association state football playoffs this week. Overall, 33 regular-season region champions won their way to the third round.
A total of 24 games, four in each of the six classifications, are scheduled Friday, Nov. 19, across the state. All kickoffs are set for 7 p.m.

Doctor hopes to address rural physician shortage

DEMOPOLIS, AL (WSFA) - Alabama faces a shortage of family care doctors, especially in the Black Belt. One of Marengo County's few family practitioners is leaving and heading to Montgomery, but the reason he's doing it, has a greater purpose.

A car accident in 2002 may have affected Dr. Erik Lessman's speech, but not his passion for serving others.

"My field of practice is so broad, I'm an ER doctor half the time, I'm in the general psych program, I do OB care, I'm a family doctor. I affect most of the town."

Dr. Lessman runs the Black Belt Clinic, a practice that serves Marengo and Sumter counties. Studies show the Black Belt counties are under served by family practitioners and other doctors.
